This great recipe is shared by Dancing Queen, while I was MSNing with her during CNY eve. This lovely mommy and I always kacau her and call her ‘PRETTY’. I think she is pretty at her age and a very humble person to talk to no doubt she is a wife to a XXXXXX. Hahahaha… both of us got a lot of common things to talk about and funny this is whenever she talk about someone sure that person, both of us know. The world is very small yeah!
We were talking about fish sauce and suddenly she share with me this recipe she tried when she went for holiday in Vietnam. So yesterday night, I tried it and it is indeed a very nice porky dish that both my kids love it so much. Both of them had one big bowl of rice again. But for my Dearie Suki I got a bit mad about him. When I didn’t tell him it is cooked with fish sauce, he wacked a lot cos he tot is the Salted Fish Cooked With Pork Belly. But then when I tell him it is actually cooked with fish sauce immediately he tell me not nice cos I think he don’t like fish sauce. What is this! How can he changed his mind so fast. At moment said nice and a moment said not nice. But whatever it is, as long as both kids love it, I am happy with it.
Ingredients :
1 piece of pork belly, cut thinly
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cornflour
A drop of dark soya sauce
Some chopped garlic
1 big onion, cut into chunks
1/2 cup of water
Method :
1. Marinate pork belly with oyster sauce, fish sauce, cornflour and some sugar.
2. Heat oil in pan and sautee garlic till fragrant.
3. Add in pork slices and big onion chunks. Stir fried for few minutes.
4. Add in water and let it simmer till the pork is cooked and soften.
5. Then add in a drop of dark soya sauce. Cooked til the sauce dry up a bit and dish up. Alternatively you can thicken the sauce with some cornflour.
Note : This dish really invites a lot of flies to my home when I cooked it. Maybe it is because of the fish sauce.
